J.M. started at Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 1991 and was responsible for financing, leasing, and development of all property types. From 1995 to 1998, J.M. was the Vice President of real estate for Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc. J.M. returned to CRC in 1998 as the CEO. J.M. heads the executive management team and oversees long-term and strategic planning for the company. J.M. has a B.A. from Bucknell University and an M.S. in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University.
David joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2000 in the role of a leasing agent. Having worked in commercial brokerage and for a publicly traded REIT in addition to his time at CRC, David has extensive experience representing landlords in real estate transactions. As Senior Vice President for CRC he oversees all aspects of leasing and property management on both the commercial and residential portfolio. David has a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland.
Crystal joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2011 and serves as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources after heading Human Resources for Marcor Environmental for 16 years. Crystal is responsible for team member recruitment, retention, engagement and development, as well as, maintaining legal HR requirements and benefits for CRC. She has a B.S. from Salisbury University with and an M.B.A. with a concentration in HR from the University of Baltimore. She also holds several professional certifications in HR and is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management’s Advocacy A-Team.
Nick joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2002. He directs the in-house legal department and manages outside law firms in all legal aspects related to CRC’s projects. Prior to joining CRC, Nick played a major role in the successful restructuring of a financially distressed public REIT and the work-out, re-positioning, and eventual sale of a $ 1.5 billion-plus insurance company real estate mortgage portfolio. A member of the Maryland Bar, Nick has a J.D. from the University of Baltimore, and a B.A. and an M.B.A from Loyola University Maryland.
Ari joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2016 and serves as the Vice President of Acquisitions. In his role, he focuses on multifamily acquisitions and dispositions throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions, manages broker/owner relationships, and oversees the underwriting and due diligence process. Prior to joining CRC, Ari worked at Alex. Brown Realty, Stifel Nicolaus, Townsend Capital, and Legg Mason. Ari is a Board Member of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), where he is a member of the NMHC Emerging Leaders Group. Ari is a full member of Urban Land Institute (ULI) and participates on the National Multifamily Blue Product Council. He is also the Co-Chair of the Real Estate Industry Group for The Associated: Community Federation of Baltimore. Ari has a B.A. in Business and Economics from the Muhlenberg College and a M.S. in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University, Carey Business School.
Richard has worked in the multifamily apartment industry for over 35 years. Prior to joining Continental Realty Corporation (CRC), Richard spent three decades working for Town and Country, a public REIT. Richard has an extensive background in construction and redevelopment projects of all types. He has worked on projects of all sizes throughout the country. Richard and his in-house team oversee all aspects of construction for CRC’s shopping centers and apartment communities.
Paul joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2011 and serves as the Vice President of Acquisitions. In his role, he leads retail acquisitions and dispositions, manages broker/owner relationships, and oversees the underwriting and due diligence process. Prior to joining CRC, Paul worked at First Capital Realty, CB Richard Ellis, Costar Group, and the Greenwich Group International. Paul has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan. He is also an active member of ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers).
Michele joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 1999 after spending almost ten years working for the Rouse Company and Prime Retail. Her experience covered many aspects of accounting from managing overall lease administration to financial reporting. Michele oversees all management and operations of CRC’s accounting department including, accounts receivable and payable, cash management, financial functions, external reporting and strategic planning. Michele also works regularly with CRC’s partners, tax accountants, lenders and auditors and has experience with accounting for all types of properties and transactions. Michele has a B.A. from Notre Dame of Maryland University.
JD joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2017 as the Director of Commercial Property Management. JD is responsible for the management and operations of the Mid-Atlantic & Southeast commercial portfolio. Prior to joining CRC, JD worked with retail and mixed-use properties for The Rappaport Companies, PREIT and Elysian Partners. JD holds a B.S. degree in Real Estate from Clarion University and is a Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM) with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Rick has worked in the Multifamily Construction industry for over 15 years. Prior to joining Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2007, Rick worked as a Construction Project Manager for national home builders, Ryan Homes and Toll Brothers after graduating from Salisbury University. While at CRC, Rick has been promoted twice and is currently the Senior Director of Construction for the Multifamily Division. Rick has accomplished many capital improvement and asset preservation projects within the multifamily portfolio. Rick is an active member with MMHA (Maryland Multi-Housing Association), sitting on the Maintenance Mania Events Committee and is currently an instructor for CRU (Continental Realty University), CRC’s in-house university.
Haley joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2012 and served on the Asset Management team for six years before being promoted to Director of Asset Management. She has on-the-ground operations experience, expertise in CRC’s accounting and reporting platforms, and an in-depth understanding of the portfolio’s financials. Haley oversees a team of asset managers and associates—collectively the group is responsible for the financial and operational performance of a retail and multifamily portfolio across the mid-Atlantic and Southeast. The team oversees execution of the investment thesis from acquisition through disposition. Prior to joining CRC, Haley was a loan officer at FirstBank, the second largest bank in Colorado. Haley is an alumna of Santa Clara University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Finance, and holds her M.S. in Real Estate from The Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University.
Scott joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2016 as the Senior Property Manager for the Commercial Division. In his current role as Director of Operations for the Multifamily Division, Scott is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the residential division. Prior to joining CRC, Scott worked with residential and mixed-use communities for The Bozzuto Group and The Dolben Company. Scott has a B.S. in Property Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and is a Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) with the National Apartment Association (NAA).
Matt joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2011 and currently serves as the Director of Talent Management. In this position, Matt is involved in areas such as recruiting, learning and development, workforce planning, employee engagement and retention. Matt earned a B.S. from Towson University and he has 17 years of human resources experience in the real-estate industry.
Nancy joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2000 and currently serves as the Director of Commercial Property Management. Prior to joining CRC, Nancy worked for Dean Witter and Grub and Ellis where she handled the marketing and property management for centers located throughout the United States. Nancy is responsible for the daily management and operations of the commercial retail and office centers in Maryland and Florida.
Jeff Rines joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 1998 as a Network Administrator. In his current role, as the Director of Information Systems, Jeff heads a team of IT professionals who are responsible for the network security and infrastructure of the organization’s technological environment. Jeff is heavily involved in the day-to-day technology needs of the organization, working with team members to design solutions that provide better workflow, enhanced communication and improved processes. Jeff has spearheaded several software implementations including the organization’s conversion to Yardi and Microsoft SharePoint. Jeff is a member of the CRU Advisory Board, providing support, guidance and expertise to the technological needs of an in-house university.
Steve joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2015. He works closely with management overseeing the accounting department, reporting and analyzing transactional data, and consulting with outside attorneys and CPAs. Prior to CRC in public accounting, Steve focused on income tax compliance and planning for high net worth individuals and families, as well as financial statement preparation in a variety of industries. Steve is a Certified Public Accountant, has a B.S. in Accounting from Towson University, and has an M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland
Erin joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2017. She works with the in-house legal department and manages outside legal counsel in connection with acquiring, financing and managing CRC’s portfolio. Prior to joining CRC, Erin represented CRC and other commercial real estate clients as an Attorney for DLA Piper. Erin has a J.D. from the University of Baltimore, and a B.A. from Elon University.
Belinda joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2012 after serving as the Director of Marketing for Hirschfield Properties’ residential division. Belinda has over 20 years of strategic marketing and expert leasing experience. She is responsible for the conception and implementation of all corporate marketing and branding initiatives. As such Belinda oversees all creative projects for commercial, residential and human resources. Belinda developed the current social media plan for the company and continues to grow CRC’s social engagement. In addition to her corporate marketing responsibilities, Belinda serves as the Dean of the Leasing College for Continental Realty University (CRU) and has designed and implemented numerous training courses related to sales, customer service, social media, lead management, software systems and policy procedures.
Lauren joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2010 and serves as the Controller of Fund Investments. Lauren’s responsibilities include external investor reporting and distributions, compliance with operating agreements, and fund accounting and audits. Prior to joining CRC, Lauren worked at Sterling Partners and PricewaterhouseCoopers and has extensive experience in accounting and reporting for private equity funds. Lauren is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. in Accounting and a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Melanie joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2016 as a Regional Portfolio Manager for a multi-state portfolio with over 20 years’ experience in property management. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from the University of Baltimore. Melanie is a Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) and Certified Apartment Portfolio Specialist (CAPS) through National Apartment Association (NAA). She is primarily responsible for overseeing daily operations throughout her geographically diverse portfolio in Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. These daily operations include training and support of the on-site teams to maximize operational performance from sales, reputation management and customer service to financial management and capital improvements.
Amy joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2009 after graduating from Towson University with a B.S. in Business Administration. She started as a Leasing Consultant and quickly caught onto the sales role and showed great potential for leadership. In 2011, Amy was promoted to Property Manager where she was able to pre-lease a student community faster than any other manager before. Amy really demonstrated her abilities in building a powerhouse team, while outperforming financial benchmarks. In 2013, Amy was promoted to Regional Portfolio Manager. Amy has managed CRC’s student portfolio along with a diverse mix of assets in Annapolis and Baltimore City.
Blake joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2008 as a Leasing Coordinator. In his current role of Senior Leasing Manager, Blake directs leasing activities at retail and office properties located throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. This involves developing and implementing tailored marketing strategies, analyzing the merits of potential transactions, and negotiating new leases, renewals, and assignments with local, regional, and national tenants. In addition, Blake also is responsible for coaching and managing multiple members of the commercial leasing team. An active participant in International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, Blake has completed a diverse set of commercial leases with experience ranging from retail pad sites to full-service office space. Blake received a B.A. from Dickinson College in 2008 and a M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland in 2015.
David joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2017 as a Regional Portfolio Manager in the Multifamily Division. In his current role, David is responsible for overseeing the management and daily operations of multiple communities throughout Maryland and North Carolina. Prior to joining CRC, David spent 16 years managing residential and mixed-use communities for Home Properties, Morgan Properties, and Archstone-Smith. David is a Licensed Real Estate salesperson and an active member of the Maryland Multi-Housing Association’s (MMHA) Legislative Committee.
Kristina joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2009 as a Senior Leasing Associate. Prior to CRC, she was a member of the retail team at CB Richard Ellis, where she represented Landlords in real estate transactions. In the role of Leasing Manager, Kristina manages all aspects of leasing for multiple out of state commercial properties in the CRC portfolio. Kristina holds a B.A. from Denison University, is a member of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association and has been a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) since 2002.
Dana joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2004 as a Leasing Consultant. During her tenure at CRC, she has served as an Executive Assistant to the VP of Residential Management and Property Manager. She was promoted to the role of Regional Portfolio Manager in 2012 where she has managed a diverse portfolio of assets including conventional, student, and HUD properties in and around Baltimore. Dana holds a B.A. from Duke University and an M.A. from Morgan State University. She is a member of the Maryland Multi-Housing Association (MMHA) and holds a CAPS designation.
Maura Walter joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2003 after graduating from Towson University with a B.S. in Mass Communications. She started as a Leasing Consultant in Annapolis, however, she caught onto the sales role quickly and showed great potential for growth. In 2004, Maura was ready for more of a challenge and was promoted to property manager in the Towson market. She held that position for a little over a year and demonstrated her ability to effectively oversee a student-based property with a large team, while meeting financial benchmarks. In 2006, Maura was promoted to Regional Manager and oversees a diverse mix of assets in the Baltimore market totaling a little over 1,500 units.
Kelsi joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2017 as a Leasing Associate. Prior to joining CRC, she managed global real estate transactions and provided real estate consulting services for Fortune 500 companies while working at Fischer and Company in Dallas, TX. Kelsi holds a B.A. from Georgetown University where she was a member and team Captain of the Georgetown Division I Women’s Lacrosse team. She is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Roseanne joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2015 as a Leasing Consultant. She excelled in the Multifamily division for a year and a half before joining the Commercial Leasing team. In her current role as Commercial Property Associate, Roseanne has successfully finalized renewals, assignments, and new deals with local and national tenants. Roseanne holds a B.A. from North Carolina Central University and received a B.A. in Real Estate and Economic Development from University of Baltimore in 2017. She is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Cherene joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2012 as a Commercial Leasing Associate. Cherene currently oversees the leasing efforts for Maryland and Florida commercial properties. Since joining CRC she has successfully completed new deals and renewals with several national and local retailers, office users and restaurant operators. Cherene previously worked for KLNB brokerage firm and has experience in both commercial and residential sales. Cherene has a B.A. from New Paltz University and is an active member of several local chambers of commerce, NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Melissa joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 2010. In her current role of Leasing Associate, her primary focus is leasing the Maryland retail portfolio. She is responsible for over 1.3 million square feet of retail and office leasing. Melissa’s leasing experience includes Landlord representation of transactions with local, regional, and national tenants. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina – Wilmington. She is also an active member of International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and NAIOP.
One of the pioneers in Baltimore’s urban development, J. Mark Schapiro is the son of Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) founder, Marvin S. Schapiro. Mark’s career with CRC began in 1964. Mark has overseen CRC’s multifamily acquisition and development program and actively managed the theater division before it was sold in 1988. Mark has served on numerous mayoral task forces and committees, as a Trustee for the Baltimore Museum of Art, on the Board of Sinai Hospital, and was President of the Associated Jewish Charities of Baltimore from 1994-1996. Mark is a graduate of Baltimore City College and has a law degree from the University of Baltimore.
Jack joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 1979 after serving as a former Treasurer of the City of Baltimore and commercial banker for Equitable Trust Company. Jack was responsible for the start of CRC’s Commercial Division and the CR Restaurant Division. Jack has served as a Chairman of the Commissioners of Finance of the City of Baltimore. After serving as a Trustee for several local private schools, Jack is currently a Trustee of McDonogh School and Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. He is a Director and President of Rollins–Luetkemeyer Foundation. Jack is a graduate of Williams College and has an M.B.A. from New York University.
Gene spent 26 years with Continental Realty Corporation (CRC), most recently as President. Gene now serves as Vice Chairman of the CRC Advisory Board. In this capacity, he helps guide the strategic direction of the company. Gene has extensive retail and multifamily operational expertise. Gene has an M.S. in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University, and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland. He is a graduate real estate instructor at Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University.
Lawrence joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 1985. He specializes in the creative redevelopment of existing buildings, land development, and new construction. Lawrence has revitalized over 60 buildings ranging in size from 33,000 to 650,000 square feet during his 40-year career in commercial real estate.
Tom joined Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) in 1983 as Vice President and General Manager of JF Theatres, Inc., a CRC owned chain of movie theatres. In 1989, CR Restaurants, Inc. was formed as a Burger King franchisee, with Tom as President. Today CR Restaurants, Inc. operates 27 Burger King Restaurants in the Baltimore and Pennsylvania metro area. Tom oversees all facets of the Burger King program, including site acquisition, finance, construction, purchasing, and daily operations.
