The Mullan Contracting Company Captures Merit Award From Associated Builders And Contractors (ABC) For Padonia Village Shopping Center

The Mullan Contracting Company has won a “Merit Award” from the Baltimore Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) in its 2020 awards competition, for construction and renovation work completed at Padonia Village shopping center, a 115,000 square foot neighborhood shopping venue situated in the Timonium section of Baltimore County. The project is owned and managed by Continental Realty Corporation (CRC), a Baltimore-based real estate company.

The Mullan Contracting Company completed an orchestrated phased renovation program, which carefully staged the replacement of all exterior materials, sidewalks, a center-wide renovation, the installation of new lighting, and the creation of a reimagined courtyard pocket park named “the Green.” This area functions as the aesthetic focal point of the center and provides an intimate gathering area for events, promotions and concerts. It will also be the primary pedestrian zone with active and dynamic retail and entertainment uses.

“The York Road retail corridor is extremely competitive, and CRC sought a reimagined project that improved the asset’s appearance and functionality to the benefit of tenants and customers,” explained Joseph Rode, President of The Mullan Contracting Company. “Special measures were taken to diminish the appearance of a significant construction project underway that would potentially dissuade customers from visiting Padonia Village. A safety program was developed that involved the creation of pedestrian walkways and overhead decking systems that protected consumers from falling debris.”
