Shoe Dept. Encore Plans Opening For New 13,692 Square Foot Store Within The Crossroads Of Taylorsville In Early February
BALTIMORE, MD (February 11, 2026) – Shoe Dept. Encore, a family footwear concept which also carries a full selection of handbags and accessories, is planning to open within The Crossroads of Taylorsville, a nearly 630,000 square foot super-regional shopping center in Taylorsville this month. Shoe Show, Inc., the parent company of Shoe Dept. Encore, as well as several other footwear brands, signed a 13,692 square foot lease with Continental Realty Corporation (CRC), a Baltimore-based real estate investment and management company, which acquired the asset in 2024, marking the company’s entry into the greater Salt Lake City retail market. Located at 5400 S Redwood Road, approximately 12 miles south of Salt Lake City in Taylorsville, the center is anchored by national retailers including Target, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, Ross Dress for Less, EOS Fitness, Regal Cinema, and PetSmart. Cherene Keenan, Senior Leasing Manager, Anchor Specialist, Retail Leasing and Jace Bankhead of Legend Commercial represented the tenant.
“Shoe Dept. Encore will bring family footwear and accessories to The Crossroads of Taylorsville, expanding convenient options for customers along the Interstate 215 corridor,” stated Kristina O’Keefe, Senior Vice President, Retail Operations for CRC. “This tenant strengthens the center’s lineup of national retailers and restaurants, draws new traffic that benefits our existing tenants, and reflects CRC’s commitment to investing in high-performing regional retail. This lease is another step in building long-term momentum at Crossroads and supporting CRC’s continued retail growth in the market.”
Shoe Dept. Encore operates more than 1,000 locations nationally, as well as Utah sites in Harrisville, North Logan, Ogden, Provo, and Sandy. The concept offers footwear brands such as Crocs, Skechers, HEYDUDE, Timberland, and Tommy Hilfiger, as well as athletic apparel from adidas, Converse, Nike, and New Balance. “The store features television entertainment centers that offer a place for guests to relax while shoppers browse more than 18,700 merchandise items.” Shoe Dept. Encore employs up to 20 associates in each store.
“We detected a definitive need for a family footwear store in the Taylorsville area, and our site selection process identified The Crossroads at Taylorsville as the most suitable site for our concept,” explained David Nichols, Senior VP of Real Estate for Shoe Show, Inc. “Our team was attracted to the tremendous accessibility and visibility of the shopping venue, as well as the complimentary mix of stores. The greater Taylorsville area is a strong retail hub and is experiencing steady population growth.”
Nearly 420,000 people, including more than 53,000 households with an average household income of more than $96,000, reside within a five-mile radius of The Crossroads of Taylorsville, and an additional 91,000 people work within five miles of the regional shopping center. The center draws consumers from an expanded 15-mile trade area capturing nearly 270,000 households which spend approximately $30,000 annually at retail stores throughout Salt Lake City.
